Small Low Profile Corinthian Column Capital

Base to take 3 1/2in diam column (90mm ) This is a low profile capital where the combined heights of the scroll and base are minimised to create a streamlined effect. This column capital is carved equally on all four sides and features a rebated column fitting. Characteristic of the later Roman Column Capital, the scrolls of this Corinthian capital protrude at an angle to the corners in a splayed effect, traditionally more adept to carry heavier weights of a pediment entablature whilst giving a lightness of feeling to the architectural design. The base for insertion of the column top is recessed above the level of the base line. The WGC range of Corinthian column capitals includes item nos. 481, 482, 483, 677, 655, 674, 705, 706, 824, 885, & 887 as well as a range of Ionic Column Capitals and Ionic pillaster capitals
